Comments:

Zip action on drifting, one missed hit. I drifted with sinker (1/4 oz), live line, and bobber at 30' (3 lines). I was surpised at lack of drift action, probably fishing in too deep water. 2 lakers caught, and 1 missed within 30 minutes jigging deep. both fish hit jig near bottom, but were hooked when they hit it again as I was retrieving jig. fished 10:30 am- 3:30pm. lakers released unharmed.

Jeff Russo, a RVTA member, asked me if I would to go fishing at Round Valley with him. Since I never have fished Round Valley, I was eager at the opportunity. I was very into fishing when I was younger but for one reason or another I haven't gone in about two years. We got to RV and it was beautiful but right as we were about to put our lines in the water, the wind kicked up and white caps were forming on the surface. About 10 minutes into our second trolling run the downrigger snapped and the pole flew up and the fight was on. I never reeled in a laker and I had to get used to it but I finally got it to the surface and Jeff netted it. It was much to my amazement how big the fish was and it was the biggest fish I ever caught. Ever since then I have been constantly asking Jeff when we are going to go again. It's amazing but after only one time fishing there I'm hooked and can't wait to go back.

Weather conditions: Sun and clouds semi windy temp in 40's
Location: all shorelines
Fishing method: flatline
Depth of presentation: 10ft
Water depth: 15ft- 30ft
Type of lure: streamer fly white with green and orange markings
Type of bait: same
Water temp.: 39 degrees
Species: Brown Trout
Size: 14-17 inches
Total caught: 3
Comments:

Fish seemed to be concentrated along the north shore. I fish all shorelines, but most action was north shore. Had 3 fish caught and released and 4 others lost. Seemed to have a number of short strikes. Best was in the first hours of fishing and then it seemed to decline. Fished from 7am-11am. Fish looked healthy, but lacked the ususal bulk and weight. One seemed to be fairly thin. Saw only one small bait pod. 2 brown trout had a very silvery look and one was kind of a mustard gold color. seems to be two different speices that are stocked here. The silver colored ones have less bulk and weight than the mustard gold colored ones.

Comments:
Fished from 1pm to 5:30pm. It was very hard to troll because of the strong winds. Suprised to catch the 3 lakers because the wind was making it difficult to maintain a good trolling speed.

Comments:

Largest of the ten was two of about 26".  Fresh water Biologist Lesa Barno had nets out at the North Point and the Deep 'V". It looked like she was trying to get info. on the Browns and Rainbows with ref. to the bait problem but that's only my speculation.
