Comments: Though fishing was a little slow, I did get many hits.  The fish seemed very smart this day as they managed to out wit a lot of us fisherpeople.  I did truly enjoy meeting Walleye Wally.  He's a great guy.  He has the best fish stories and he also has the wisdom of Solomon when it comes to fishing tactics.  Thanks Walleye Wally for a great day of fellowship.  I sure look forward to the day where we can "hook-up" again.  It was also nice to see "Old Man Bill" out there.  I hadn't seen him in over a year, and I enjoyed some of his fishing stories as well.  Fishing to me is not just about catching fish, it's an education that never should cease.  Keep up with those stories guys, hope to see ya again soon.  God Bless.

Comments: Was my first time to fish at Round Valley.  I usually only flyfish for trout and spincast with lures for bass.  Not really a "live bait" fisherman. All in all though, I had a nice day there.  We caught one really fat female rainbow which we released.  It was about 16" or so, fat with eggs pouring out of her.  My only gripe was that it was a bit boring for me to just stand there and wait for my line to go tight.  I usually prefer to be a bit more interactive when I fish.  But in January though, I can't complain, it was just a gorgeous place with VERY healthy looking fish and it beats staying at home waiting for Spring.  Oh yes, thanks to the other fishermen there who gave us advice.

Comments: fished from noon till 4:30.  Caught zip, but nice day anyway.  Saw some shore fishermen catches.   Would of fished from boat, but wind predictions of 20 mph nixed that idea. Actually, the wind wasn't that bad, lots of boats out.  Does anyone have info re ice thickness on Budd Lake?  Any emails willl be appreciated.

Comments: My "time" dues have finally given me a great return.  I have been fishing the Valley for sometime now, and though I have successfully caught nice fish, nothing has brought me as much of a thrill as landing my first 24" Rainbow from the Valley's shoreline.  It was beautiful!  She was like chrome with the the most beautiful colors illuminating from her.  Folks, I was in awe.  She gave me the best fight ever.  She jumped 4 feet out of the water, and after carefully playing her, eight minutes later, she was in the net.  I thank you Round Valley, and I thank you God for producing such a gorgeous creature.  Fisherpeolple my only comment to you is, "Never give up!"

Comments: 12/26/99 Fished the valley again today from  shore. Weather was cloudy until about 3:00 when the sun came out. Got up late and didn’t start until 9:30. Missed all 7 hits I had today. Saw a few fish caught by other anglers, but nothing great. My buddy had 2 browns about 15 inches and 1 laker about 18 inches and missed at least 10 hits. Most action on shiners, maybe 2 hits on power bait. Oh well, better than working or chores around the house. Great to see the new fishing license increase. Also heard a rumor that the state stocked 500,000 herring in Round Valley, anyone know anything about this? Thanks!

Comments: Today I started my winter fishing at the valley after saltwater fishing for the summer and fall.
The weather was pretty snotty. Wind NE with rain off and on. I only fish from shore here. Started the day on one of the points past the boat launch. Got the first fish at about 8 am, nice brown at 18 inches. 2nd at 8:20, 15 inch brown. Then I just stared at the rod tips for the next couple of hours moving up and down the shore. Finally had enough with the wind, rain, and cold blowing in my face. Of course I didn’t go home but went to a lee area to get out of the wind. After an hour or so of nothing happening there I moved about 30 yds over. 30 minutes later I finally get another fish, 15 inch brown. Then I lose the next 6 run offs. Land 2 more browns 15 and 16 inches. Lose more fish ( by this time I’m losing count of missed fish) and land a 20 inch Laker. Last fish a 15 inch brown just as I’m ready to leave. All fish were taken on shiners.Fish were all released in good condition. All and all a great way to start the winter at the valley.

Comments: After fishing the surf for the last 2 months, and 152 Stripers later (notcounting the ones caught from the boat) R.Valley welcomed me back with a beautiful day. The whole lake was like a piece of glass. And the lights where flashing all day long. I was pulling wire and jigged for a while. It was a morning bite. After 2PM.they turned off.  Walt
