Comments: Started fishing at 5:30 a.m. Had my first lake trout at 6:00, 24 inches. Fishing with slip bobber and had first rainbow at 7:15. It was fat and healthy. Had my second rainbow at 8:20. Started catching lake trout until I ran out of bait. Had nonstop action all day. Hope I do as well Sunday during our contest!!! See you on the Valley, Rapala Fred
Comments: It was cold and windy from the East. I anchored up and began to enjoy a slow pick of the hardest fighting Lakers that I ever experienced in RV. Even the little 20" ones put up a respectable battle. The fourth Laker to hit was the big one for the day. I unhooked it boatside. I would say it was no less than 28" and no more than 30" and very malnourished. This Lake Trout had a long thin body and a giant head. The most it could have weighed was 8 lbs. I also landed a very nice Rainbow of 4.2 lbs. I caught it on the bottom with a live herring.
Comments: Caught the first laker as soon as the line hit the bottom.
My buddy caught his first laker. After the laker action died down
we headed over to the tower and got a nice tagged rainbow which we released.
Lost a couple more nice fish. All in all it was a beautiful day to
be out fishing!

Type of bait: Shiners & Herring
Water temperature: 60

Size: 17"-23 3/4
Total caught: 9
Comments: Fished tourney this weekend and the only thing disappointing was the weather, although Sunday was not that bad... Herring or shiners did not matter, caught 4 or 5 on each. The 2 smaller fish (17") were very skinny, the 7 larger fish 20" + were all very fat and healthy. Broke up the days by casting spinners and caught an additional 11 rainbows between 12 & 16" Seven of them were tagged, 4 kamloops to 14" and 3 fish and game to 13" The 2 16" fish were not tagged. Also throw in a perch, 2 bass and 1 small brown trout.... All in all a pretty good first time out on Round Valley.....JIM
Comments: Seems like the rainbows were a hittin' the rooster tail! soo
cold. My friend had shorts on and his legs were blue.
Still fished anyway. Caught a tagger rainbow. Let all fish go, too
awesome looking to kill!
Comments: First time out on my boat...tried some suggested spots with no luck...tried near the spots I used to fish off-shore and caught a nice 23" laker...still learning
Comments: I fished from shore between the boat ramps from 2pm till 6pm.Caught 3 fish. One smallmouth bass and one brown on shiners and one rainbow on mealworms.
Comments: I just bought down riggers today on the way there. Didn't catch a fish, but trolled lots of the lake. I have no idea how to troll, or how to trout fish in general. I usually just go to the towers and double anchor and fish off the bottom, no success there today. I was thinking of joining RVTA but I'm only 14 and I doubt they would let me. If you can help me with fishing round valley, e-mail me? Thanks
Comments: After not catching any keeper lakers last Sat. I was 2 for 3 today with the Lakers. I released all the Lakers and kept the 'Bow. Laker89..out
Comments: could not find them or get them to hit
Comments: Pulling wire the first 3 HRs.After hooken & loosing about 20 fish (I was ready to loose my mind) I have never experienced anything like that before. I checked my hooks, my speed my everything, they just kept on coming off. Then I said "no more Mr. nice guy" and went bait fishing and lost count after 18 fish. It was a crazy day. See you on the lake,Walt
Comments: MY FRIEND DANNY AND I WENT IN THE AFTERNOON AND FOR THE FIRST TIME SKUNKED ON THE VALLEY WE COULD NOT BELIEVE IT WELL BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME.
Comments: CAME IN FROM TOURNAMENT 10 MIN. LATE AND HAD BIGGEST FISH
OF DAY. OH WELL CAN'T WIN THEM ALL. ALL AND ALL A GREAT
DAY OF FISHING ON THE VALLEY .
TIGHT LINES CATCH & RELEASE ONLY
Comments: The lakers were on the feed, everyone was catching lots. It didn't matter how I presented the bait, alive, dead, chunked. After fighting 41 healthy Lakers and releasing all of them from boatside I went home and stretched out on the couch and took a nice nap. Laker89...out
Comments: Started catching lakers right of the bat. My 3rd. one was
a keeper for the tournament, but I thought I'll get a bigger one, and I
almost did, but the hook pulled out. I'm jinx't.Wednesday I got 3
keepers with no problem, up to
8 1/2 lbs. But we all had a good time doing the tournament and that
is what counts. Marty Prusock caught an incredible count of 41 lakers and
not 1 keeper. Sorry Marty, tomorrow you get all the keepers you want :)
WAlt.
Comments: First time out this year and it wasn't to bad, had 2 hits that got off before I could see what they were and 2 Lakers that were small 15" & 18" all fish caught before 10:30am. Its nice to see the Valley back to it original level.
Comments: I was sitting to the left of the boat ramp with Lyle, Uncle
Pick-Nicky and OS. I had a light outfit (4 foot rod) and 4 pund test in
the water with a shiner on the end. I lit my cigarette, put my pole down
and before you know it, Uncle Pick-Nicky was yelling "Uncle Franky - your
pole is bending!!!!!!!" That fish was jumping put of the water.
I have never seen a brownie jump like that before........I grabbed
the rod and started pulling in! The fish set the hook for me. The second
of the two was a little bit longer than the first, but much thicker. I
got a nice picture and then let it go. Great day at the Reservoir....................
Comments: Saw 2 others caught by Uncle Frankie in the same spot (14" and 14") with same bait etc.
Comments: Boy Oh Boy can I pick the right day to play hooky from work!!!!!
I started fishing at about 7AM. Just drifting around to see what's going
on. Then I decided to drop my 2 anchors. It didn't take long for
the first fish to hit. I was letting out the second herring when
the first rod doubled over. After that it was pretty much non stop
action. Most of the 25 lakers were 20" - 23" and all full of fight.
I think maybe 2 or 3 others were 24" give or take an 1/8. The skinny
8-1/2Lb. 29-3/8" laker hit a half-dead herring fished on the bottom at
about 11:45 AM. I released my last laker at about 12:45. The
rainbow hit a small herring fished on a slip bobber set at 27' from the
stop knot to the hook. The tournament this Sat. should produce some
fine catches. Wish I didn't have to go to work tomorrow.
