Comments: Started flatlining along the pines down all the way to south
tower along shoreline in approx 40 to 50' of water. Nothing doing. Anchored
in 75' of water by the south tower & fished herring on bottom &
some poles 2 to 3 feet off the bottom. Marked fish at 65', had a few soft
bites, fish were there but not agressively hitting. Picked up anchor &
headed toward south tower to fish underground stream beds in 75 to 85'
of water. Picked up 1 Laker & released it. Had few soft bites &
that was about it. Better Fishing days ahead.

Comments: Gorgeous day on the "Valley"! Started day by drifting due
to no wind with herring off the north point, no problem keeping lines down
to the bottom, but the fishing was slow, only 2 small lakers. I then anchored
up 1/2 mile off north point that I have locked in on my GPS, and started
a steady pick of lakers, with the largest being 25". I also caught 1 14"
brown on a slip bobber set at 30' that gave a better fight than most lakers.
I could use a couple of hundred more days like this on the water!

Comments: Went up to fish the first members only contest with Dennis
Concannon. Worked on 9.9 on and off all week, but couldn't tell in
the yard if it had full power. Talked my wife into a new one.
Checked out the internet for info. Had all the info ready.
Decided to give old motor one last chance in contest. Started right
up, but still no power. Ran out to 50 foot hump at a snails pace.
Trolled one wire rod with copper willow leaf. Caught a 19 inch laker.
Got aggravated with the way 9.9 was running. Shut it down, pulled
all the lines in. Noticed that the accellerator cable had somehow
jumped out of the housing. Was a bugger to reinstall. Finnaly
got in back in place. Started motor. It ran like a dream.
Full power. Made my day. Couldn't beleive that this was the
problem all along. Started trolling with dodgers and bait again,
now in a much better mood. Hooked up another 19 inch laker.
Then released a rigger to check the bait and a fish hit as soon as I started
to reel in. Turned out to be a 21 inch laker. Just over 3 pounds.
Got some points for Fisherperson of the Year. Thought maybe might
be in the money. No such luck. Trolled up a 17 incher and another
19 incher. Wind started to blow hard. Went over to south dam
in 150 foot of water. Put ball down to bottom, came up feeling like
an ice cube. Decided to go in. Saw Bo Hackney at ramp.
Bo puts in a lot of time at the Valley, and catches many fish. Told
me he is having a lot of trouble catching anything over 21 inches.
My fish have been filled with grass shrimp, but no baitfish. I'm
worried about the ecosystem. Where are the baitfish? And the
larger browns? Well, until next time, good luck.

Comments: Great conditions today as the water was dead flat: never
saw it so flat ever. Anyway, used my new Raytheon Fish Finder, and boy,
there are litterally thousands of juvenile trout around 20-30 ft below
the surface. Unfort. , I did not mark any large trout on the bottom, despite
the fact that all three of my lakers were from the bottom. I tried to fish
the area where I marked fish, but had no luck with the bows or the brownies.(Seems
like their pop. is becoming weaker despite their large stocking numbers)
Also, I marked some rather large trout around the 40 ft depth in a few
areas, as in 20+ in. Overall, a good day. If anyone could email me please
on how to fish for the bows and the brownies, Id be very thankful.

more active as the water warms up. Watch the surface for alot of
floating logs (Some very large) and branches. The downed trees on the shoreline
are braking up! We had another nice day at the Greatest Fishing Hole in

Comments: Went up with Don Lerch to help state stock. Started
9.9 motor, had no power big time. Felt like I was towing another
boat behind me. Motor is 25 years old. Thought it gave up the
ghost. Took forever to troll the south shore with wire, caught one
19 incher on a copper willow leaf. Started the big motor and stocked
rainbows for the state. Their fish are pitiful compared to our Kamloops.
Worried about the 9.9, ran in with big motor and went home.

Comments: Miserable weather, great fishing. Only 4 boats out on the
water at 5 pm. I was a bit scared to go out far since I was using my grandfather's
1970 6 hp Johnson outboard. I think that tells it all. I felt a bit courageous
though and searched for 100 ft with my depth finder. I wasnt concerned
about about reading fish; just wanted to drop the lines. Getting to the
point, wind picked up and there was no way in hell I was going to get stuck
out on the lake with a dead motor and darkness coming upon me. In the end,
I could not complain. Lucky drop and I nailed 6 consecutive lake trout
using 7 shiners. Not bad at all! By the way, the sliding sinker rod took
all all of the fish. Must mean something. Looks like a cold week then back
to the 70s for the weekend.Fish on.

Comments: It was a picture perfect first day for the season on Round
Valley. Marked alot of Lake trout on the bottom, but they didn't want shiners
today. Had 5 hits, but no fish brought to the boat. Stll it was an enjoyable
couple of hours before another rotten weekend forcast. Hopefully as the
water warms up, the fish will become more active. Enjoy these nice spring
days on the 'Valley" while we can! See you on the water!!!

Comments: Took Freddy Albert out on my boat today. Marked fish
near the mouth of the ramp cove on the way out. Should have fished
there. Trolled up the north trench with wire and spoons. Nothing
for hours. Went over to the 50 foot hump. Marked so few fish,
thought there was something wrong with my fishfinder. Finally, put
out chrome #0 dodgers followed by live minnows. At 11:00 the fish
turned on. By trolling down the hump into 80 foot of water we were
able to catch 4 lakers and lose about 4 more. Fish not very agressive.
Hope the weather improves, and with it the water temp. Got colder
with snow in the forcast, so headed home.
