Comments: Brian took a vacation day and bought a non resident licence for a lousy day on the valley. The rain was not so bad but the wind took the anchor and dragged it around the lake. Finally got tired of it and called it a day. We did have a good time catching up on old times.  Grumpy

Comments: trolled out to 50 foot hump with wire in fog.  Caught 1 laker on wire and willow leaf spooon.  Thought it would be a good day, due to the fact that it was flat calm and very foggy.  Always did well in these conditions.  Got to 50 foot hump and began trolling size 0 chrome dodgers followed by live shiners.  Could not find any concentrations of fish, ony occational fish.  Kept trying.  very slow.  Lost a couple of fish and landed 2 at 20 inches.  Threw back, no good in open contest.  Wanted to get herring, but did not know that the bait shop was opening early.  why didn't Steve contact the organization in advance so we could announce it to the membershhip.  Gave up at noon and went home.  Can't fish the second day, have to go to a friend's wedding, drats!

Comments: Dead calm in am, fished herring at bottom and had many hits, ran with the bait but did not swallow. Every herring hit was scraped up behind dorsal from teeth, but had no hookups. When the wind picked up big time, I tried trolling with newly installed downriggers plus wire line,   hooked up with nothing with the wind, turned around into the wind and the boat turned , dropping the ball into a snag and losing it. Not a good day......

All nice FAT kamloops.  Fish hit very hard, but did not fight all that well.  All fish were lip hooked and immediatly released.  However, they did not seem to fare well once they went back into the water.  All the fish just swam into the rocks in the shallows and rolled around alot in between the rocks.  I used my rod to try and coax them out into the open water but I have never seen trout that were not mishandled act this way upon release.  It concerned me a bit that these fish would react this way.  Anyone have any ideas as to why they might be behaving this way??  If so, shoot me an e-mail.  I have caught the Kamloops before, but never from shore so I could see them after the release.              Fish more, Fish more often!!!

Comments: Grumpier had his day. He holds the boat record for a rainbow. We took the Rainbow to Lebanon Bait Shop to get an accurate weight. Steve told us that the right rear fin being cut maybe an Identifier. He was going to call the Biologist and check. For those interested the fish was full of roe and had nothing in it's stomach but a few small shrimp. If anyone knows anything about this marked fish email me at the above address. We ended the day with 1-221/2, 4# Rainbow, 1-20" Laker, and 1-15" Brown and 1-returned 19" laker.  Grumpy

Comments: started fishing at daylight, trolled along north shore to get out of the wind.  Released one 18 inch laker on dodgers and bait.  Flatlined a chartruse jointed #7 rapala and caught 2 17-18 inch Kamloops. jumped like steelhead, released both.  Can't wait until they reach 3-4 pounds.  Went in and helped with rvta stocking.  Our fish were all bueatiful Kamloops in the 13-15 inch range, very fat.  Club President Dennis Haggerty came out with me and stocked the special tagged trout.  22 inch long hooked jaw brown of about 5 pounds.  Our fish are tremendous compared to the state's stockies, which I also assissted in stocking.  Went back out fishing for a hour or so.  Saw a fresh stockie tried to grab a minnow as I was letting it out next to the boat.  boy are they agressive.  Wind got to much so we went in.  Saw Mike Kalinchock with a 19 inch brown at the ramp.  First decent brownie I saw in a long time.

Comments: Tough day overall. Heat was getting to most fisherman. I'm 18 yrs old, and the heat was killing me. Thought the cooler water would help cool down the air on the lake: it didn't at all. Anyway, with no wind and flat conditions, fishing was tough. Lakers either were not really hitting well today OR were just hitting quick and hard. About 200 yrd. off the north dam, read many smaller trout around 25 ft down. Yet, none of them were interested in a herring. Overall, did not see much caught by others. However, I did see a large brownie/bow working the surface for quite some time. Not sure if it was feeding on one of the small schools of herring or the larvae hatch. Should cool down nicely tomrrow. Hopefully those stocked herring will help the brownie pop. redevelope as the lakers have taken over the lake. Tight lines.

Comments:   What a nice day on the Reservior, just like summer. Thank goodness there was a little breeze today. 17 incher was in good shape and had alot of weight. Lost alot of herring from fast Lakers on the bottom. Five others were lost at the boat, one was legal. The water was so flat, drifting was like standing still.

13,500 Pre-Spawned Herring were released into the Valley on Monday Night by RVTA and the Division of Fish and Game. Hopefully they will have little baby herring in the reservior to help things out!

Good Luck Fishing and enjoy the weather while it lasts!!...Dennis
