Comments: Suprisingly bad catch for today. I expected to do pretty
well. Guessed i jinxed myself. Fished Live Shiners on two rods
and casted various lures with another. Missed one fish that hit the
shiner, I wasnt paying attention and by the time i grabbed the rod, it
was off. Never even saw it. Other than that, no hits of any
sort at all. Alot of other guys shorefishing, but not sure how they
did. I just hope the guy who had the nerve to put his rod stand literally
7 ft from mine didnt catch any when the whole shoreline was empty of other
anglers. I couldnt believe this guy. On that shoreline one
spot is pretty much as good as another in that open 200 yds he had open
to put his stand. Oh well. Just another messed character you
meet on the way.

Comments: I and Randy Guerrera could not pass up this 60°+ Spring
day without doing some fishing. There was a full moon last night but we
were able to pick up five Lakers. Two on D/R's and three on wire. No big
fish but we had a very nice and enjoyable day.

Comments: Started trolling as per the previous day, although 1 rigger
would not work due to an electrical malfunction. No fish while trolling
the same area, launch cove to the north tower and east of it. For the first
time in a while, I had purchased shiners and after 2 hours of trolling.
I decided to anchor up close to a waypoint on my GPS off the north point
in 90' of water. After dropping 1 line to the bottom, before getting another
line in the water, the first pole starts to bounce!I dropped the second
pole and fed line to, what was, my first laker of the day. After setting
up the rest of the poles, I had double and triple poles with fish on for
the next 2 hours. I used the large shiners(very large), which had many
run-offs, but hooked all the lakers with the medium shiners. I guess that
the large shiners were too big to be swallowed, no matter how much line
I gave to the fish. After 2 hours and 1 dozen medium shiners, including
the ones that were dead and once hooked, I called it a day, considering
that there was a lot to do at home. 2 hours and 1 dozen 20+" lake trout
makes for one of the best days at The Valley so far in my life, not just
in '02, using live bait!!! Considering that the day before I caught all
of my trout on artificial bait, but today I caught nothing on the same,
diversification at the Valley was the key of the day.

Comments: Lot's of Boats at the Valley today, no wind till 11:00 am,
and than it was only 10 MPH.out of the west, really nice day. Mike Kalinchock
got to the Valley early with his son Sean, and it paid off, he had a Laker
at about 13 or 14 Lb.and lost another nice fish, bent his hook open. It
pays to get quality hooks Mike:-))) See you on the Lake, Walt

Comments: As usual, trolled out of the launch cove with 2 'riggers
and 2 lead core lines, heading towards the North Tower. Hooked up with a
tagged Kamloops on the 'riggers just east of the tower in 75'0f water,
on the bottom. Just past the north point, in 70' of water, I caught my
first laker of the day on the lead core, 10 colors, with the Little
Ripper. Following the same depth along the North Shore, I hooked up with
3 more lakers with the same lure, Reefrunner Little Ripper, Rainbow Trout
color. Two of the lakers caught were in the 24-26" range, both giving a
great fight, although I was still trolling against them. All fish were
released happily, at least that was the way they looked to me!!

Comments: Fished hard all morning. I am always discouraged when
the sun is shining so bright. I am convinced that the bright sun
frightens the trout from coming close to the shore. I had one rod
set up with live shiner, another rod with power bait/meal worm combo and
in addition casting a gold spoon and a minnow lure. First three
hours there, nothing at all. Then at noon, my rod jumped out of my
bucket/rod holder and luckily I was there to grab it. I thought it
was a bigger fish, but it was 15" only. That brought my encouragment
up to stay a bit more. While jigging my spoon in very very slowly,
I had two more short takes on my spoon. It was a bass fishing spoon
and I think the hooks were too big for the trout to get a good bite on
it. It turned out to be a fun day though. Wish guys would stop
littering on the shoreline!!!! I'm a smoker too, but its so easy
to just to put your butts in a bag and throw it out later.

GUY WHO CAUGHT A 17" BROWN ON M/M. MY PAST EXPERIENCES FROM THIS
PAST YEAR HAVE SHOWN ME THAT ON VERY SUNNY DAYS THE ACTION SLOWS DOWN.

Comments: Started with leadcore and rapalas again in the launch cove,
marked lots of fish, but no takers. Went over by the north tower and put
down spoons on the 'riggers plus the rapalas on the leadcore and lost 1
fish(unknown type) on a firetiger colored rapala. I caught 3 lakers on
the 'riggers on blue/silver spoon and rainbow colored spoon just east of
the tower in 70'. I trolled the north shore in 70-90', landing another
4 lakers, with 2 on chartreuse and blue spoons. When I turned back into
the wind on the east end, I changed over to both spoons with chartreuse,
and double headered in 15 minutes, with 1 being the smallest laker I have
ever caught,10 inches!!!! By that time, I was heading into the wind and
was tough controlling the boat and setting lines due to the wind, so I
called it a day
