Comments: Dead calm in am, anchored off north point in 95' water, very slow bite. First laker was the largest,23",and very, very fat, which I released, just like all the others. I had a herring down 25' on a slip bobber, and hooked a very acrobatic rainbow, which went just about 20". I caught 3 other lakers on herring at the same spot, and missed about another 4 in run offs.It was a slow pick all day anchored, and about 1:30 pm I picked up and trolled spoons on the bottom, and 3 colors of lead core with Rapalas and other stickbaits, with only 1- 14" laker caught on a brass colored Mooselook Wobler.

While releasing the Bass,Bryan(Go Fish)my partner in crime, had one going, but lost him after a short battle,it was a Monster. We had 3 more runoffs, but they let go before we could set the hook.It was a nice change of scenery, but very VERY crowded for a weekday, got the last parking spot for the trailor, see you all back at the Valley soon,Walt

Comments: 2nd Time fishing on a boat, trolled from 6am to about 11am no hits but fish finder was going crazy at times with so many fish but still no hits.
Chaged tactics the two time the Fish finder  spoted fish I released the bait at about 50-55' and let it sink and got fish both times. Maybe just luky or the fish are a little lazy.

Comments:  My friend Jay and I fished on Thursday April 18, Started in 85 feet of water , read alot of lakers on bottom. Caught a total of 8 lakers from 18 to 33 inches with a few 23 inchers. All the fish were released! The 33 inch laker I caught had a girth of 20 inches and was caught on a slip bobber 20 ft down (to my surprise) in 91 feet of water. It was caught on a shinner , on 8 lb test line and took about 20 minutes to get him boat side.I released the fish after measuring it and to our surprise the fish went to the bottom and eat another one of our baits. The fish was actually caught twice.

Comments: Began the morning with drifting inside the launch cove, marking fish suspended and on the bottom, with no luck. Moved out to the north tower and drifted there, marking fish, but still getting laughed at. Moved out to the area off the north point that I have on the GPS, double anchored and chummed, and managed only 3 lakers there, with one being so strong I had thought I had tangled around the anchor rope, because it only came up 1/2 way and then it wanted to not budge another foot! I gave the pole to my son, who was frozen and cranky by then, and pulled up the anchor, but it was not tangled with it, just being a tough catch!! I took the pole back from my son because he could not move the fish either, and probably fought it for another 15 minutes, til I was able to pursuade it to come up so the hook could be removed. That fish was perhaps the fattest laker I have caught at the Valley, measuring 24". The wind was gusty, and the boat pulled the other anchor, so we packed up and headed in, making my son very happy knowing he was going to warm up in the truck!!!
