Total+caught: 3
Comments: The bait shop having no herring set the tone for the evening.  Anchored near the north tower for an hour then headed to the Pines.  Lyle caught his 2 short rainbows on crawlers.  Got real quiet so we moved to between the towers near 9:30-10p.  Used surface and submersible lights.  Marked lots of smaller baitfish but not many larger fish.  I caught my laker (around 24-25") 5-6' off the bottom in 60ft. of water on a shiner.  All fished released. As always, be gentle with these trout.

Comments: By far the best day I have had at the valley in a long time.  Thank God we are allowed back out at night.  Fished 65 - 70 feet of water off the Pines.  Had bait light dropped down around 20 feet and fished nightcrawlers anywhere from 25 - 30' so that they were just below the light and all the bait it brought in.  Caught bunches of Browns, and Bows including several in the 4 to 6 pound range.  Only kept one fish that swallowed the hook and was bleeding bad.  Also lost two or three that I could not even move.  Had to be big, big, fish.  Can't wait to get out at night again.

Type+of+bait: night crawlers and minnows
Water+temperature: 79 degrees
Species: Rainbow Trout
Size: 13 to 20 inches
Total+caught: 15
Comments: Went up with Dennis Concannon and Gary "rubber duckie" Nelson.  Trolled dodgers and bait until dark, nothing, not even a release.  Anchored into 40 foot of water above the pines on the south shore.  Put down submersible light and noticed huge amounts of bait around light.  Very small, not sure if they are herring.  If so must be young of the year. If they are, it is good news for the future.  Noticed bigger fish suspended 25 feet down on fish finder.  Let out night crawlers 25 pulls.  Began catching steadily from 9:30 pm until we ran out of bait at midnight.  Final count was 15 bows, with many more lost.  Last one I got was a beautiful 20 inch 3 pound Kamloops.  Hope they keep growing.  Next time I'll buy 4 dozen of crawlers.  Glad they opened the Valley at night again.

Comments: fished the second shift. Caught both fish within the first hour. Also caught a largemouth in the middle of the reservoir. I thought the fishing would improve as evening fell, but it acually got slower as it got later. Both Browns looked healthy and were released unharmed. ( by unharmed I mean not even taken out of the water )........................

Comments: Double anchored in 125' off south dam near some bottom readings,no hits.Went searching for fish on sonar looked off the pines, nothing. Started to search in the mile of the reservoir, when we got almost even with the north dam I got several marks at 30',at this time the wind had died out completely so I decide to circle and drift herring through this area.I still went hitless but my buddy Mark had three hits and landed one Kamloops of about 16". The wind now kicked up heavy. We tried a brief stint double anchored off the North tower with no luck before calling it quits.

Comments: Took freind Fred Spoko up to the Valley.  Only saw 5 boats on the whole lake.  Mondays are nice.  Wanted to try out my new 9.9 four stroke.  Ran nice and quiet.  Trolled up the north shore with wire line.  Lost one fish.  Went over to the 50 foot hump and trolled dodgers with live herring.  Landed two small lakers.  Freddy wanted to keep the 21` incher to eat, so just released the 17 incher.  fishing was terribly slow.  only lost about two more fish.  Was it hot after we got off the water.  Think I'll go back to the salt until the water cools down a little.
