Brown trout prefer water temps of about 65oF.
Browns need very clean, well oxygenated water in order to survive.
They spawn in the fall, but they can not spawn at the Valley since there are no streams coming or going.
They will be suspended near or below the thermocline during summer months.
Once fall turnover occurs, they can be found near the surface.
They are not opportunistic feeders like lake trout, they are far more selective.
Brownies spook very easily.
Trolling is also very effective for catching brownies.
