The Round Valley Trout Association (RVTA), is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of New Jersey, organized in September 1980, for the sole purpose of supplementing the trout stocking program of the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife.
The RVTA has stocked over 83,265 trout in the reservoir for the benefit and pleasure of ALL ANGLERS. All of our fund raising activities are conducted for the purpose of supporting our trout stocking program. These activities include fishing contests, raffles, sport shows, sponsor-a-trout and memberships dues.
RVTA cooperates with the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife in its ongoing efforts to provide a top quality Fish Management Plan for the reservoir. Since the reservoir was filled in the late sixties, fishing pressure has increased dramatically, and the number of trout stocked by the state has decreased. In 1983, the New Jersey Division of Fish, Game and Wildlife implemented the Trophy Trout Angling Regulations for Round Valley. This was the first step in a plan to increase the "Holdover" trout population. On January 1, 1990, further regulations were introduced when a 15 inch, two trout per day limit was placed on Brown and Rainbow trout. Clearly, the above regulations, along with continued stocking by the state and RVTA, has increased the "holdover" trout population. In 1991, a new Brown trout state record was set, at 18 lbs. 6 oz. and in 1995 a new Lake trout record was set at 24 lbs. 14 oz.
Anyone can help improve the fishery by joining the RVTA. We have a membership of over 1000 and our annual dues are $15 for adults and $10 for juniors under the age of 14 years. We also have a family membership for only $25 and that includes an entire family living at the same address. Monthly meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m., at the American Legion Hall, Rt#22 East & Ridge Road, Whitehouse, NJ. When writing to RVTA please use this mailing address, PO BOX 442, Lebanon, NJ 08833-0442.
See our bulletin board at the main ramp of the reservoir for current club news, activities and photos.
